  1. I'm very interested in your project. I think I've tracked down David Storr's "Channel for the Light."

    2. I have it on order. How do you suggest I share it with you when it arrives?

Happy to help. It's a good project.

    3. Rip it from cassette or CD and post it on mediafire as a download.

More people need to hear this music. I just tracked down the mp3s to "Key West Afternoon" so I'll be posting it up

  2. Will do! I have several others that you are looking for as well. I'll try to pull those.

  8. I think it's just the "Upper Astral Suite" cassette. I believe this is their full discography:
Upper Astral Suite (Valley Of The Sun, 1981)
Crystal Cave (Valley Of The Sun, 1982)
Skybirds (Valley Of The Sun, 1982)
Entrance To The Secret Lagoon (Valley Of The Sun, 1983)

Higher-Self Rendesvouz (Valley Of The Sun, 198#)
Astral Massage (Valley Of The Sun, 1987)

  9. I figured it was.

Anyway, Can I have permission to put Upper Astral Suite up on here? I will give you credit since you're such a huge help.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Sure. No need for credit though.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Great posts. It's wonderful to hear some of this stuff! I can't wait for Dreamscapes and Manifestation of the Pyramids!

Next, I'll try to get Upper Astral's "Entrance to the Secret Lagoon." Then we can look at the others (Slap, Schaffner, Storrs, ad Naegele).

    Robert Slap - Drive

Several on the way, including Robert Slap "East of West," Karl Schaffner "Many Lives Ago," and possibly a few others.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Can you get "Drive" uploaded first?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Also, try finding "In The caverns of your mind" or "search for utopia"

I'd do some cassette searching myself, but I'm gonna stick with CDs since my tape deck has long since broken and I have no way of ripping cassettes currently.

Bad news. No David Storrs. I had it on order and they finally notified me that it was out of stock. So, no "Channel for the Light" though I'm still looking.

Still several tapes to go here.

Next up: Robert Slap "Mystic Memories"

    AM134 SEDONA Cass
AM142 WHEN I BECOME THE WIND Cass
    AM145 CELESTIAL BRIDGE Cass

  39. Oh, awesome! Who is "Sedona" by? Because there's another release of a similar title by Robert Slap.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Correct. It's the Robert Slap soundtrack.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh, and I have one more Robert Slap on the way, "East of West."

    ReplyDelete
  42. AWESOMENESS!

Downloading the Lescaut album now to put on here. By the way, I think I should credit you now. You've helped so much with this blog.
I still am looking forward to hearing "Search for Utopia" or "In The Caverns of Your Mind", if either of us ever find it

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thanks but I don't really care about credit. My reward is you helping me find some of the things I can't find. So, we're even as I see it.

I'm desperately looking for "Search for Utopia" and "In The Caverns of Your Mind". If you ever find it for sale somewhere and want me to grab it, I'm happy to.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Alright! I'm still looking for stuff myself.

BTW Did you download Many Lives Ago? It's a great album.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love "Many Lives Ago." I did grab it. Thanks.

So, I'm also desperately looking for Karl Schaffner "Journey to a Far Land." That one actually came out on cd.

    ReplyDelete
  46. You are? I'll try looking around.

http://archive.org/details/iuma-schaffner_karl I found this internet archive thing that has some info on it..

    ReplyDelete
  47. ^The above link has a download of one of the songs from Journey to a Far land. You have to download the MP3 or it won't work.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thanks. I was able to grab that. Much appreciated.

I also found all of his albums for download here:

    http://yantradeck.com/music.html

But it seems that the links don't really work. You add digital downloads to your cart but it starts charging you crazy amounts for shipping. For a digital download? Odd. I sent them an email but no response.

    1. I think I've seen this site before. If it's charging that much money, I wouldn't trust it.

  49. I also have Upper Astral's "Crystal Cave" now. I had lost the files on my computer but uncovered them yesterday after searching.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sweet!

Here's an interesting challenge. I found the Valley of the Sun release "Transition" by Natopus streaming online. It's really lovely. Here's the link:

It has buttons for free download but I can't seem to get them to work. Do you have ideas?

    ReplyDelete

    2. I did some digging on this one. Why is "Gloria" singing like a man. Well, that's B.J. Thomas, her husband, who was a big country/rock pop star in the 1970s. The songs are written by her and sung by him.

Very NOT like any of the other Valley of the Sun recordings. Much more mainstream. Even blues/country.

    3. I listened to it. Definitely not my style of music but I'll put it up reguardless.

    1. OK. The unfortunate thing is that I currently have no working cassette player or way to digitize cassettes, I only have ways of digitizing vinyl and (obviously) ripping CDs. That combined with the lack of money I have makes it difficult, but I post things up whenever I can and whenever people help.

  87. Hi there...

I have a cassette tape that was my mothers but somehow over the years it found its way into my things. I love the music and listen to it from time to time. I do not have all the specifics as I only have a cassette with no case. It is Upper Astral and is copyright 1985. The title of cassette is Finding Your SoulMate and is a subliminal tape. I looked through and did not see it in your collection although I may have missed it. I converted the tape to MP3s a few years back at a 320 bit rate. If you are interested in hearing the tape, let me know.

    1. I do NOT have that, nor have I heard of it! I would love if you could share them!

  88. Yeah... I looked everywhere on the net trying to find a CD version but no luck. This is how I came to find your site. The cassette itself looks like the cassettes you have as the background and does not give much info and do not know who wrote it except that it was published through Upper Astral. What is the best way to get them to you? I could upload them to the binary newsgroups as I have access to newsgroups but most people don't use the newsgroups and I have never uploaded anything with websites.

    2. Downloading the files now. Thank you for this tape that I have never heard of until today. I will credit you on the post if you would like me to Joseph.

    3. Thank you... For creating this space to hold long forgotten little gems to lose your self for a moment in places eternal. With the tape I provided, it always left me wondering about my soulmate... Just what was the subliminal message? Does she need to hear it too? I have listened to the tape quite a number of times over the years if that is any indicator as to its effectiveness. lol :P And yes, it has been a pleasure to provide another piece to the whole :) And Enjoy!

    4. I figured nobody else was appreciating the work of this company as I, so I made the blog because I wanted to hear more and help others discover the beauty and serenity of these tapes.

Side 2 of the Upper astral tape you sent me is my favorite out of the two. Scan in the tape cover and back cover when you can.

Would you believe a 17 year old is running this blog, sir?

    5. I think I would have to say, Right On! And Wow! How long have you been listening to the genre? I started back in the early 80's with Vangelis and was a few years younger than you are now. Haven't stopped listening since and always and forever listening for new sounds to pull on my heart strings. Wow! That is so cool to see another mind so young and inspired by such awesome music as well as your other interest in art and animation and music. By your age I was using a Commodore Amiga computer to create animations. I actually used an emulator earlier this evening to pull up a couple of pieces from a series I called Moments Through The Window of Eternity I did from back in the early 80s. I wanted to show a friend, who is deciding whether she wants to treat a brain tumor or to move into the great unknown, some of my early computer attempts at drawing and animating.

So I had to listen to side 2 because I liked side 1 but I think to be fair, I have always listened to the tape in a continuous mode over and over until I decided to move on. So there was really just one side. I never stopped the tape at the end of side 1 to repeat it over. :) Editing out the introduction on side one enhances the musical experience 100 fold.

I will do my best on getting the cover art. I am going to talk to my mother tomorrow and see if she has the case. I do not. Only the tape itself. It is tape 2 and she may have tape 1 as well.

I wanted to add that reading your brief initial profile cover info was like reading myself except for the putting this blog together. Paranoid about everything! lol I would add one more thing to make it complete, for me... Loner Extraordinaire! :) lol I don't blog or post. This indeed has been a very rare treat for me; to feel like you ran into yourself, and running into people is something paranoia is good at keeping me from doing.

Would you believe I am 45?

I'll think of you as 8 (1+7=) lol
And you can think of me as 9 (4+5=)

That way I don't feel so old.

It's nearing midnight here and heavy has been my heart today. World so needs Love right now to shower down upon us all.

Again, thank you and I look forward to seeing what you will bring next and if I can bring more I surely will.

Never stop reaching for what your heart desires and knows to be true and just for all. Every one needs to find this place in time and space. Now! More than ever!

And lastly... If you build it, they will come.

      Till next time.

    6. Wow, That's all very interesting Joseph. And Myself, when I started getting into synth music It started with lots of unknown artists, very obscure ones like Timerider. Then I got into Vangelis, Laserdance, Koto, and others and it sort of escalated from there.

I invite you to download some of the music on this page. I think you will like it, and it's perfect for relaxation and meditation, as well as yoga. My favorite Upper Astral releases are Skybirds, Entrance To The Secret Lagoon, and Journey to the edge of the universe, so I suggest you start with those ones and then listen to more.

BTW Someone on amazon was selling "Aquamarine", maybe you can get a better quality rip? I think the quality of the one I have already is ok, but it's up to you.

  96. Question of the day. Listen to this:

    https://rapidshare.com/files/3014273739/Robert%20Slap%20(maybe)%20-%20Visions%20Of%20A%20New%20Age.rar

Do we think this is Robert Slap?

    1. It's on the Madacy label from Canada, the same folks that released "the mystic sea" and other Robert Slap stuff.
    2. It sounds much like other Slap nature recordings.
    3. It contains "Tranquilities" (is this the same recordings?)

    Your thoughts?

    1. I will listen to it. By the way, one of the tracks on Desert Oasis is a wav file, and I can't add it to mediafire because it's too big... I no longer have the program I use to convert audio so I'll need you to send me the MP3.

    2. Also, upon listening, I can confirm that the track "Tranquilities" is by Robert Slap, on the Tranquilities CD it is called "Peaceful I Haven" and it's a few minutes shorter. The extra minutes on Tranquilities is most likely some of the music from the song "Clouds", which is actually part of "Journeys Out Of Body" By David Naegele. I'll double check to clarify this.

Whispers is really nice. You know the sound when you hear really fast quick notes going from low, to high, then back to low? I can't describe it well, but lots of these Valley of the sun recordings have it.

    5. "Ocean Echoes" is actually part of one of the tracks on "You Are The Sea.

  97. That's all very helpful.

So, tracks 1 and 4 are definitely Robert Slap. The other two tracks clearly sound like his music as well.

You would think they would at least list him on the credits SOMEWHERE. Odd.

    1. Thanks! I'll get these uploaded when I have the chance. I'm not usually a fan of nature recordings with no music in them but I found this one and Nightbirds to be relaxing.

    2. They are nice recordings. But not something I tend to want to just sit down and listen to. You're right.

    3. You never cease to amaze me, Happydogs.

Thanks for this, this was one of the ones I was really looking forward to. And based on my judgement by the title, it's gonna be great. Each time I come accross one with a title or album cover art I really like, I always end up loving the music, sucha s Ascention to the all that is, Nightshades, Entrance To The Secret Lagoon and such.

Looking forward to more. I'm gonna keep looking as well. I've been researching that ultimate new age collection.
