Dick Sutphen - Awakened Dreaming (1986)

Body relaxation tape by Dick Sutphen from 1986, has music in the background but I am not sure who the artist is. The music does not sound like any of the Valley of The Sun artists I know of.  Enjoy.

Dick Sutphen - Expansion of Psychic Abilities (1976)

Hypnosis tape by Dick Sutphen, featuring more metronome in the background. From 1976, released on cassette. This might be his first release, as Sutphen started his practices of self help tapes in 1976.

Dick Sutphen - Expansion of Psychic Abilities

Upper Astral - Higher Self Rendezvous (1983)

It's actually the same as the music played in the Soulmates tape, but in case there are any slight differences  in quality or anything I am uploading it here too.

Steven Cooper - Key West Afternoon (Digital Remaster from Master Tape)

Donated kindly by Mr. Cooper himself, here is the great Key West Afternoon tape in pristine quality. A great release, and the quality is improved very much from the lo-fi tape rip that was posted up in the past.

Sourced from the Master Tapes, digitally remastered by Steven Cooper.

A Few Words from STEVEN COOPER!

Hey. I have some cool stuff to share today. Steven Cooper had came across this blog and had shared some interesting things with me, so I figured I'd share it here with everyone else to hear what one of the great New Age artists has to say about their music. Steven has also donated 2 digital remasters from the original master tapes of Key West Afternoon and the only Cooper album from Valley Of The Sun we don't have yet: Angels Of The Sun!

"Hello,
I accidently came across your site on the internet.
Thanks for all of the nice comments.
I have several of the releases you do not have...including some of the other artists.
All of my music is on CD - but has not been re-released.
I did most of the music for the "hypnosis tapes" released in 1985-1987.
I also did music for another company - Jonathan Parker's Gateways institute.
These were all "self-help" releases - on cassette - in 1988-89. There were many.
I also have an unreleased project that was going to come out on the Synergy Label, Audion in 1990.
They went belly up - and so did it.......I re-mastered all of these releases several years ago - and the CD's sound great. I also have a release from "Valley of the Sun" so that I can release the music on my own.
I haven't had the time to do so, so they have languished in the vault so to speak.
The label was the brainchild of Richard and Scott Sutphen. Scott recruited me, and TRANSCENDENCE was the result. That was almost thirty years ago - hard to believe. I was one of their first artists - and remained with them until the label closed.
I may have copies of some of the other releases you don't have - I worked with Robert Slapp some, and he sent me label releases in advance.
At the time, I really wanted all of my releases out on CD. They were all originally mastered to SONY PCM - the original DAT. The quality has always been great, and they sound much better
in digital. I had a high quality studio for the time, and made efforts to make the recordings as good as anything out there. BUT at the time, CD releases required "big" budgets - $15k per/release - and were beyond what the label wanted to spend.
The unreleased project was titled "Planet Earth" - and was a sonic history of the earth. It was pretty cool - and I developed all sorts of sounds for it - from atoms to volcanos to earthquakes to
insects and dinosaurs. It was the project Audion was interested in - and I never offered it to Vallery of the Sun. The friends I have shared it with always liked it - and it was perhaps the best thing I did.....I guess that is the story of life - the best efforts end up unheard."

Robert Slap - Atlantis: Healing Temple (1990)

I finally got my hands on an unfortunately 192kbps copy of Robert Slap's "Atlantis Healing Temple" from 1990, re-released on CD in 1991. The quality is listenable but if anyone has a 320 rip, that would be much preferred.  This album is great, though I think I like Atlantis Crystal Chamber a little more.

Robert Slap - Atlantis Healing Temple

David Naegele - Dawning Of The New Age (1983)

Another great album by David Naegele.  Note that this one sounds VERY similar to Side B of the "Aquamarine" Tape. This means that it was not Robert Slap who did that album, but it was David Naegele instead.
Dawning Of The New Age
Special Thanks to Tim from Adelaide for being so generous to send me the MP3s to this great album!

REMASTER- Upper Astral- Finding Your Soul Mate (198?)

The files from this elusive tape were sent to me in only subpar quality, so I felt I should take charge to increase the listening experience. I recommend listening to it with headphones on for a better feel of the music. Hope you enjoy the remaster I did...

Upper Astral- Finding Your Soulmate (Remastered)

Robert Martin - Divine Light (1986)

Brought to you by the great people (or person, singular) at Sounds Of The Dawn (click here to check them out), We're in for another treat. This is Robert Martin, who released Great Peace in 1981. Robert Martin is one of the few new age artists who does not use any electronics who I like very much (Although electronic piano is in this release.) Normally, I don't like new age music that does not include synthesizers and keyboards. This does not apply to Martin's music. When someone who likes electronic new age exclusively enjoys these releases, you know it must be great.

Mario Dufour- Reflexion (1988)

Holiday post #3! This time it's a 1988 release by Mario Dufour, a collection of relaxing piano compositions in this release, called Reflexion!

Mario Dufour - Reflexion

That's it for the holiday posts! I hope everyone's holidays were great, and I wish everyone a nice vacation.

Daniel Berthiaume - The Sacred Fire, 1992 (Merry Christmas!)

Holiday Udate #2! This time, here is the 1992 release, The Sacred Fire, AKA Le Feu Sacre, by Canadian artist Daniel Berthiaume. This one is quite nice, heavy synth work here! Hope you enjoy it!

I took a look at Daniel Berthiaume's other works, too. It's nice, if I obtain any I may put them on my other blog.
Daniel Berthiaume - The Sacred Fire

David Storrs - Sedona Sunrise (1985)

Another release from David Storrs! This time, rather than being progressive new age, this is true new age/ ambient. Enjoy, from 1985, Sedona Sunrise.
David Storrs - Sedona Sunrise (1985)

From press release: Inspired by the Sedona Arizona, energy vortexes. Imagine yourself at sunrise in the beautiful, high desert environment. Experience awakening in the vortex at sunrise; watch as the sun's first rays fall across the red rock canyon walls. Side 2 is "Night In The Vortex." A mystical wooden flute, a harp and ethereal voices merge.

Robert Slap- Oriental Garden (Musical Sounds of Relaxation)

Discovered another Musical Sounds of Relaxation tape I have never heard of before. Briefly listened to it, I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's called Oriental Garden.

Oriental Gardens

Some of the music from this tape was later released as "Oriental Gardens" on a 4 CD set, called "The Ultimate New Age Collection,"  distributed by Distributions Madacy, Inc. in 1994. They have some other New Age releases, which I am to assume are all Robert Slap. Such titles as "I am The Sea", which I think might be "You Are The Sea," and "Winterscapes" might be "Snow Dreams".

Still looking for more tapes!/Help us find tape names

Sorry that I haven't updated in a while, I've been looking for more releases, but with no avail. If anyone here has any releases we don't have up, please share them with us! We'd love to hear from you!

Also, there are most likely many tapes we don't even know the names of yet, or tapes we aren't aware exist. I had never even heard of the Upper Astral "Finding Your Soul Mate" album until someone had commented mentioning they had it. If anyone knows of any tapes which have not been named on the "tapes I don't have" list, let me know!

Robert Martin- Great Peace (1988 Re-Release)

Originally from 1981, This is an awesome release from Robert Martin. Not electronic-oriented at all, but it's amazing. You're going to love this one. It's missing one track, "Pranavo", but it is only 32 seconds, and I don't have the song.

Robert Martin- Great Peace

David Naegele- Dreams of Atlantis (1982)

Ok, we have a great one coming up here. Another awesome David Naegele tape. From the tape's insert:

"Piano, harp synthesizers and effects recreates life on the lost continent, a world of crystals and highly evolved spiritual people. Close your eyes and allow forgotten memories to flow. Side 2 is "Neptune Fantasy," capturing a water world in which all flows naturally, in balance with the higher energies. You won't want to come back."

David Naegele- Dreams of Atlantis!

David Storrs- Manifestation of The Pyramids (1986)

Finally, we get to hear the music of David Storrs! And I'm enjoying it!

From the press release:
An awe-inspiring example of what New Age music can be. This is music that will stimulate ancient memories. Close your eyes and see the perfectly cut stones of the Great Pyramid being levitated into position by the power of the mind. Heavenly voices proclaim this, inspiring visions of glory, reverence and power.

Enjoy David Storrs' work:
